Introduction

Media Relations comprises the recreation and standardization of News Companies and Stringers across Praxis Roleplay. Companies can become an official News Company, and with it gain access to Media Relations and the ability to issue Press Passes to their employees.

Radio Access: Possession of a Press Pass authorizes access to County Radio and City Wide Radio using secure, tamper-proof, receive-only radios equipped with technology to remotely disable them if stolen or manipulated.

Exclusive Access: Departments may offer exclusive access to Press Conferences and/or Interviews to individuals in possession of a valid Press Pass.

This document outlines the requirements and expectations of Certified News Companies and their employees.

Media Companies

Requirements

In order to be legally recognized as a media company, a business must adhere to the following standards:

Content Production: Must produce regular articles (written, video, or audio). A minimum of 3 articles every attendance period is required, though more is preferred.

Employee Oversight: A company must background check and train all prospective employees. Their conduct while working for your business is your direct responsibility.

Management Consequences: Businesses that frequently employ individuals who break the outlined conditions of their Press Pass will be disbanded, or have their managerial structure replaced.

Media Sharing: Any footage and/or screenshots received by a media organization from their employees must be released to the Media Liaison within 1 week for Department Marketing and community use.

Getting Started

  1. Approval: First, ensure your business has been officially approved by Real Estate.
  2. Database Registration: Contact the Media Relations Liaison to get your business added to the Press Pass Database.
  3. Employee Notification: Inform the Liaison of any individuals you have issued a press pass to, after ensuring they meet the required standards for Press Officers.

Press Officers

Expectations

Activity: To maintain your Press Pass status, you must continue to supply your employer with media content. A Press Pass is strictly for individuals actively working in the field and providing usable content—it is not to be used as a method to simply hang out on scenes with your favorite Firefighters or LEOs. If your character does not work, they will be fired.

Scene Conduct: When on scene, you are expected to remain respectful and considerate of your environment, potential victims, and the professionals working the scene.

Policy Compliance: You must comply with the IC policies listed below or your press pass will be stripped. OOC policy violations will result in OOC consequences within the department, including Disciplinary Action where necessary.

Getting Started

To get started as a Press Officer and receive your Press Pass, you must secure employment. News Companies regularly advertise job opportunities, or you can reach out directly to their management to inquire about open positions.

OOC Policies

Civ Count Threshold: To be active as a stringer, there must be at least 8 other civilians active on the server. This 8-civilian count excludes SATA employees, Tow Workers, and other active stringers.

Radio Restrictions: You must be connected to the “Stringer Car-To-Car” Channel. You may scan any Radio except:

State Radio

Metro Law 1 & Metro Law 2

Tac 1 & Tac 2

(Note: This list can be updated at any time via official announcements. The radio issued to you cannot transmit or scan these restricted channels).

TeamSpeak Identification: When stringing (and inside the LEO/Fire Ops TS channel), you must format your TeamSpeak name to include your press pass ID.

Example: [M-W001] J. Pitt

On-Foot Audio: You must have a worn hand-held radio equipped to hear radio traffic while on foot. Otherwise, you will only hear traffic through your vehicle's radio.

Unlicensed Activity: If you attempt to string without an official press pass, you can and will be arrested by Law Enforcement.

IC Policies

Scene Clearance: You must ensure you are maintaining a safe distance from the scene, giving all emergency personnel proper space to work.

Legal Compliance: You must comply with all Criminal and Traffic Laws. This includes SA583.3, which strictly prohibits the use of flashing signals of any color on civilian vehicles.

Law Enforcement Commands: You must immediately comply with LEO or Praxis Roleplay instructions to retreat to a safe distance.

Credentials: You must always physically carry your Press Pass while attending any scene.

Stolen Equipment: You must report a lost or stolen radio to LEO as soon as reasonably possible so it can be remotely disabled.

Scene Selection: You should not be responding to every single call on the radio. Traffic stops are not news. Be realistic with your reporting.
