Staff Code of Conduct
Praxis Roleplay – Staff Code of Conduct
Overview
This document outlines the standard for how staff are expected to carry themselves, make decisions, and represent the server.
Being staff in Praxis is not just a role—it is a position of trust. How you speak, how you act, and how you handle situations directly shapes the community around you.
If you cannot maintain control, professionalism, and consistency, this is not the position for you.
Professional Conduct
Staff are expected to remain composed at all times, regardless of the situation. Players will test boundaries, get frustrated, and push reactions—that does not change your standard.
You are expected to stay level-headed and in control.
This means:
- No arguments with players
- No emotional reactions or outbursts
- No escalation when it can be avoided
You are not here to prove a point—you are here to handle situations correctly.
Maturity & Judgment
Staff must be able to separate personal feelings from responsibility. Decisions should be made based on what is right for the server, not what feels right in the moment.
Good judgment is shown through:
- Thinking before acting
- Understanding the impact of decisions
- Knowing when to step back or escalate
If you act off emotion, you will make poor decisions. That will not be tolerated.
Respect & Boundaries
Respect is not about being overly friendly—it is about maintaining control without lowering your standard.
You are expected to:
- Speak to players without belittling or talking down to them
- Avoid public confrontations or power struggles
- Not allow yourself to be baited into unprofessional behavior
Once you lose control of a situation, you lose authority in it.
Integrity
Integrity is non-negotiable. Staff are expected to be honest, fair, and consistent in all actions.
That includes:
- Not bending rules for personal reasons
- Not showing favoritism to friends or groups
- Not misrepresenting situations or outcomes
If players cannot trust staff to be fair, the system fails.
Consistency
Rules mean nothing if they are not applied evenly. Staff are expected to enforce standards the same way, every time, regardless of who is involved.
This means:
- No special treatment
- No selective enforcement
- No ignoring issues based on familiarity
Consistency is what builds credibility across the server.
Accountability
Mistakes will happen. What matters is how you handle them.
Staff are expected to:
- Take responsibility for their actions
- Accept correction from leadership without argument
- Learn and adjust moving forward
Deflecting blame or making excuses only creates larger problems.
Conduct Within Staff
How staff interact with each other matters just as much as how they interact with players. Internal professionalism is not optional.
Staff are expected to remain calm, respectful, and composed in all interactions with other staff, regardless of disagreement or frustration.
Disagreements will happen, but they are handled properly—not publicly and not emotionally.
This means:
- Do not argue in staff channels
- Do not create unnecessary conflict
- Do not make disrespectful, aggressive, or dismissive remarks toward other staff
- Do not publicly challenge decisions in a hostile or unprofessional manner
- Use chain of command when needed
Internal issues handled poorly will affect the entire server.
Communication Standards
Tone matters. How something is said is just as important as what is said.
Staff are expected to maintain a professional tone in all public and staff-facing channels.
This means:
- No unnecessary attitude or sarcasm in staff chats
- No hostile, reactive, or emotionally charged language
- Keep communication clear, controlled, and respectful
Sarcasm, joking, and informal tone are only acceptable in environments where tone can be clearly understood, such as:
- Direct Messages
- Voice channels
If there is any chance your tone can be misinterpreted, it should not be used.
Public Image
When you are staff, there is no true “off-duty.” Your behavior reflects on the server at all times.
You are expected to avoid:
- Public drama
- Toxic behavior
- Actions that damage the server’s reputation
If you act like a problem, you become one.
Confidentiality
Staff will have access to information that is not public. That trust is not optional—it is required.
You are expected to:
- Keep internal matters within staff spaces
- Not share sensitive information with players
- Respect privacy at all times
Breaking confidentiality is one of the fastest ways to lose your position.
Final Standard
Staff is not about authority—it is about responsibility.
You are expected to remain:
- Controlled
- Fair
- Professional
At all times.
If you cannot meet that standard consistently, you will not remain in the position.
