5. Core Roleplay Standards
5.1 In-Character Rule
- Remain in character at all times while on the server.
- Breaking character is permitted only when interacting with staff.
- OOC disputes must be handled through MPS, not in-game.
5.2 Character Realism
- Default characters are not allowed.
- Characters must have realistic names, appearance, and clothing.
- No clipping, invisible clothing, or nudity.
- Play within your character’s physical limits (age, weight, health).
5.3 Value of Life & Fear RP
- You have one life.
- You must act with fear and self-preservation when realistically threatened.
5.4 Metagaming & Powergaming
- Metagaming: Using information not obtained in-character is prohibited.
- Powergaming: Unrealistic actions, mechanic abuse, or system exploitation is prohibited.
5.5 Audio Awareness
- If you hear players through walls, floors, or unrealistic distances, you must ignore it in character.
5.6 Canon Roleplay & RP Progression
Praxis Roleplay is a non-whitelisted server. All players are allowed to roleplay; however, not all roleplay is considered canon.
5.6.1 Canon Roleplay Definition
Canon Roleplay (Canon RP) is roleplay that is reviewed and officially recognized by staff.
Only Canon RP may:
- Persist across server restarts and sessions
- Escalate into long-term or ongoing storylines
- Carry lasting in-character consequences
- Unlock progression, rewards, recognition, or assets
If roleplay is not ruled canon, it is considered non-canon.
5.6.2 Non-Canon Roleplay
Non-Canon Roleplay may still be played out; however, it:
- Does not progress beyond the scene
- Does not unlock rewards, assets, or recognition
- Does not carry lasting consequences
- Does not require memory, acknowledgment, or follow-up
- May not be escalated, retaliated against, or continued
Players are not required to remember or reference non-canon roleplay.
5.6.3 Rank-Based RP Progression
Certain high-impact, high-risk, or long-term RP scenarios require a minimum civilian rank to be eligible for canon status.
If the required rank is not met:
- The RP may still occur
- The RP will be ruled non-canon
- The RP will not be recognized, progressed, or continued
Rank does not grant rule exemptions and does not override any server rules.
5.6.4 Staff Review & Authority
- Canon status is determined after the roleplay has concluded.
- Staff will not interrupt RP unless a rule violation occurs.
- Canon rulings are final and are not debated in RP, OOC, or public channels.
- Appeals, if permitted, must follow established staff procedures.
5.6.5 Recognition, Progression & Rewards
Only Canon Roleplay may:
- Be posted in official lore or canon channels
- Be referenced in future roleplay
- Unlock businesses, properties, assets, events, or story arcs
- Influence reputation, promotions, or long-term progression
If roleplay is not recognized as canon, it does not exist server-wide.
5.6.6 Abuse & Circumvention
Attempting to:
- Force continuity from non-canon roleplay
- Retaliate over non-canon events
- Claim rewards, recognition, or progression from non-canon RP
- may result in disciplinary action.
5.6.7 Plain-Language Summary
You may roleplay anything.
Only some roleplay matters long-term.
Staff decides what becomes canon.
5.7 Greenzones/SafeZones
We operate the green zones as trespass zones. If you refuse to leave when asked you will be served a trespass and possibly arrested.
Default greenzones and safezones are as follows
- Police Stations
- Hospitals
- Event Maps
- Fire Stations
While we do operate these zones as trespass zones, repeated offenses may be ruled as trolling, and you will be removed from the server.
6. Violence Rules
6.1 RDM (Random Deathmatch)
- RDM and attempted RDM are never allowed.
6.2 VDM (Vehicle Deathmatch)
- VDM is prohibited.
- Exception: VDM is allowed only in clear Fear-for-Life situations as a last resort.
- Using vehicles as weapons outside this standard is punishable.
6.3 KOS (Kill on Sight)
KOS is not allowed by default.
KOS is permitted only under the following exceptions:
- Actively stopping a home invasion or armed break-in.
- Catching someone in the act of stealing your vehicle.
- Documented, long-term RP conflict with established escalation.
- Drive-bys with clear RP history and justification.
KOS is NOT valid if based on:
- Rumors, hearsay, Discord information, or OOC beef.
- One-off encounters without escalation.
6.4 No Body Dumping
Body Dumping is the act of disposing of a player’s body in a location where it is unlikely to be found.
While this may be realistic in real-life scenarios, server limitations make this problematic in-game. Body Dumping can effectively force a permanent character death, as the player may never be discovered or revived.
As a serious roleplay server, we aim to balance realism with fair gameplay.
Body Dumping is prohibited unless the involved player explicitly agrees to it as a method of permanently ending their character.
7. Escalation & Interaction Standard
Violent escalation must be earned through RP.
Before lethal force, players must:
- Engage in meaningful verbal interaction.
- Clearly establish hostility, intent, or threat.
- Allow the opposing party a reasonable chance to comply or respond.
Guideline: Approximately 3 minutes of active RP interaction, unless:
- There is an immediate threat to life, or
- The situation qualifies under approved KOS exceptions.
Rushing escalation to bypass RP is Fail RP.
8. New Life Rule (NLR)
When your character is downed and declared dead:
- You forget all events leading up to your death (minimum 30 minutes prior).
- You may not return to the same scene or conflict.
- You may not seek revenge or continue the storyline.
If you permanently RP your character as deceased:
- The character must be deleted, including CAD records.
- Continuing to play a dead character is Fail RP.
Abusing NLR to avoid consequences is punishable.
9. Combat Logging (LTAP)
Leaving the server to avoid arrest, hospitalization, staff action, or active RP scenes is prohibited
and punishable.
10. Hostage & Kidnapping Rules
- Hostage RP must have clear escalation and justification.
- Fake hostages are prohibited.
- Hostages may not volunteer.
- Hostages may not be held longer than 1 hour real time.
- Hostages must remain alive during the scene.
- Maximum of 2 demands per scene.
- No trading hostages for confiscated weapons or items.
- On-duty PD, EMS, and Fire may not be taken hostage without staff approval.
11. Law Enforcement, EMS & Fire
- No impersonation of staff or emergency services.
- Civilians may not possess PD/EMS equipment or weapons.
- Corrupt cop RP requires staff approval.
- Corrupt EMS RP is not allowed.
- Downed players must wait for EMS when available.
- No radio or phone use while cuffed or incapacitated.
12. Groups, Gangs & Priority Limits
- Gangs must be whitelisted and approved.
- Maximum of 4 players in priority criminal activity.
- All robbers must be inside the building during robberies.
- Third-party involvement is heavily restricted.
- Interfering with scenes you are not involved in is Fail RP.
